A Prose Poem for Wednesday

Please to read my short poem.

Fulgurite-Adrar_mauritanien_(2)

I am full of white, hot sand. Tiny, glimmering grains pushing through my veins, soaking in blood made of mica and miniscule, broken shells. My skin is made of thick, crisp paper, freckled with dust caught in the pulp. I am a thousand years old, a fulgurite formed from one moment of lightning striking the ancient stars within me.

  1. ‘Striking the ancient stars within me’ is such a clever line, really beautiful. Oh and the word fulgurite is just brilliant, I had to look it up, but it’s such fun to say!

I really loved the imagery this piece brought to mind, especially “one moment of lightning striking the ancient stars within me”.
